After Odell Beckham Jr.’s agent reportedly left New York without a deal in place for his star client, there’s now a deal in place for OBJ to become the highest-paid wide receive in the NFL.
According to ESPN’s Josina Anderson, Beckham and the Giants have agreed to a five-year, $95 million extension, with $65 million guaranteed.
The contract surpasses Steelers star Antonio Brown’s $17 million per year contract and has more guaranteed money than Buccaneers WR Mike Evans at $55 million.
Odell has been seeking a contract extension for quite some time now, and this deal opens up the NFL marketplace for other marquee-name route runners to get their bag as well.
Beckham has not appeared in any preseason games for the Giants after breaking his ankle last year, and because of ongoing extension talks. This deal paves the way for him to return to the field against Jacksonville for the Giants’ season opener on September 9. Jags CB Jalen Ramsey tweeted this after news of Beckham’s extension broke, seemingly calling Beckham “the joker” and referring to himself as “Batman.”
It’s going to be a show very soon #BatmanVsTheJoker
