After an incredible week 4, we struggled big time in week 5. The lock of the week was an abysmal loss when Duke let us down. Regardless, it’s a new week and we’re going to bounce back in a big way.
LSU (-3) @ Florida
LSU has looked great under the guidance of Coach O and look to continue their 5 game winning streak in the Swamp on Saturday. Florida is 4-1 and ranked in the top 25, but they have yet to have a really impressive win. I fully expect the Tigers to roll through the Swamp and walk out with a victory this weekend.
Auburn (-3.5) @ Mississippi State
Mississippi started the season as one of the best teams in college football. The last two weeks, however, they’ve put up a measly 13 points with losses to Kentucky and Florida. Auburn’s lone blemish on their record came at the hands of a very talented LSU team. Lock Auburn in for a win this weekend.
Other Safe Bets: Buffalo (-7), Cal (-1), Hawaii (-3), BC/NC State OVER 59
Boston College (+185) @ NC State
Neither of these teams have played a very tough schedule, so it’s a little tough to judge how this game is going to go. Both have dynamic offenses, with BC getting the edge with Heisman candidate Aj Dillon. The over in this game is a lock and I think BC has a good chance of winning if they can over power the Wolfpack’s defense.
Northern Illinois @ Ball State (+135)
I had to get some #MACTION on this list, but I really think Ball State will win this game. They’re coming off their best game in two years, in which they hung up 52 points on Kent State (more points than Illinois and Ole Miss scored on Kent). The Cardinals offense is thriving with the return of QB Riley Neal and All-MAC running back James Gilbert. NIU is having a down year compared to what they normally do, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see Ball State pull of an upset at home this week.
Lock of the Week:
Arizona State @ Colorado (-2.5)
So far, our lock of the weeks are 2-2. Not great since this is supposed to be the home run pick, but we’re gonna turn that around this week.
Arizona State has been very up and down this year with some impressive wins and embarrassing losses. Herm Edwards is doing a good job in his first year with the Sun Devils, but I don’t think its enough to overcome a very talented Colorado team in Boulder. Not only will the Buffs have the advantage of being accustomed to the altitude, they also have one of the best fan bases out there. Colorado is the better team and has all the factors leaning in their advantage. Lock in the Buffs as the safest pick of the weekend.
