What to expect from Avengers: Endgame

WARNING: The below piece does contain some minor spoilers.

For the past 11 years, Marvel Studios has dominated the cinema screens. It all started in 2008 when they rolled the dice and the original Iron Man came out. It was our first glimpse at what would become a bigger picture in what is now being called by Kevin Feige as “The Infinity Saga”. In last years mega hit Avengers Infinity War, we saw the titular villain that has been teased since the end credits of the first movie back in 2012, Thanos, achieve his ultimate goal of resetting the universe and wiping out half of all living beings in the universe. In a movie franchise that always has the heroes come out on top, it was rather shocking to watch the bad guy finally win and hand the Avengers a massive loss.

Looking to this years follow up to Infinity War, we have gotten a look at several trailers and we see the remaining Avengers down and out, dejected, and hopeless (that includes being lost in space for characters Nebula and Tony Stark). However hope is on the horizon. Scott Lang, also known as Ant-Man has seemingly made it out of the quantum realm, where we saw him stranded at the end credits of Ant-Man & The Wasp much in part to the snap that dusted the people who were supposed to pull him out, Hank Pym & Hope and Janet Van Dyne. Captain Marvel, fresh off her billion dollar blockbuster, will also join the Avengers. Carol Danvers got her powers after absorbing an explosion from the tesseract, AKA the space stone (blue infinity stone, for those who aren’t fully following). In Infinity War it is often mentioned that mere mortals can’t even hold an infinity stone, much less absorb the powers of one. Captain Marvel provides mega power in the final fight against Thanos, Ant-Man also provides a potential alternative plan that allows for traveling in and out of dimensions or even space travel.

Can Tony Stark make it back to earth and avenge everyone who was lost?

As Doctor Strange so eerily alluded to towards the end of Infinity War “We’re in the end game now…” This final installment in what is a culmination of 22 movies will no doubt leave many with emotions that cannot even be put into words. Check out the lastest Endgame trailer below and check out Avengers: Endgame in theaters April 22nd, with pre-sale tickets going on sale starting April 2nd.
